INGREDIENTS
- 2 cans (15 ounces each) of navy beans or your preferred variety, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 4 slices of bacon, chopped
- 1/3 cup Double Barrel Honey
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until it becomes crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set it aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
- In the same skillet with the bacon fat, sauté the chopped onions until they become translucent and soft, about 3-4 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked onions, crispy bacon, drained navy beans, Double Barrel Honey, ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
- Transfer the bean mixture to a baking dish or a cast-iron skillet.
- Cover the baking dish with foil or a lid and bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the beans are tender and the flavors have melded together nicely.
- Remove the foil or lid for the last 10-15 minutes of baking to allow the top of the beans to slightly caramelize.
- Once done, take the baked beans out of the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve these delicious Double Barrel Honey Baked Beans as a flavorful side dish for barbecues, picnics, or alongside your favorite main courses.
The bourbon-flavored honey adds a unique sweetness and depth to the baked beans, giving them a rich and flavorful taste that pairs wonderfully with the smokiness of the bacon and the tanginess of the other ingredients. Enjoy!
